Our bodies find it difficult to deal with the stresses of modern life. We have so much to try and get into any one day that we are often overwhelmed, as we resort to working long days and sleeping less than we should, trying to maintain a social life, while balancing our family responsibilities with our careers. All of this pressure causes us to omit exercise and take less care of ourselves and to turn to convenience foods, as we simply think that we do not have enough time to prepare a wholesome diet. Combine poor nutrition with a lack of exercise and it’s not surprising that strains and stresses start to appear and our body starts to break down. Not surprisingly, adrenal fatigue is a very common condition, even though it is poorly diagnosed and linked to the adrenal glands, very small organs located near the kidneys, of which we ask a great deal. After some years of unhealthy lifestyle habits and crazy schedules, the telltale signs of failure start to creep in.

We have to remember that our body was basically “designed” over the centuries to function according to basic primitive needs. All we needed to do, primarily, was to eat, sleep and fight if needed. Today, of course, we place an amazing demand on our bodies by eating processed, nutritionally deficient foods, ingesting toxins and failing to recharge our bodily batteries by sleeping adequately. We should be resting even more and demanding nutritional excellence, if we are to survive, this way.

Men’s Back Health Through Yoga

It’s hardly surprising that chronic fatigue sets in. Our blood sugar starts to get out of balance and our adrenal glands are unable to help them combat stress. The stress hormones overrun our nervous system, thyroid and brain function are impaired and our immunity is vulnerable. We are unable to regenerate our adrenal glands due to lack of sleep; with such a poor diet, food sensitivities result in hormonal imbalance and an inability to stop inflammation and fend off attacks.

For a majority of people, symptoms may not be chronic enough to warrant further investigation. They may feel run down, but attribute this to the hectic lifestyle and think it is just a consequence of the way that life is, these days. They do not recognize their low levels of energy as a problem and think that if they eat a quick, convenient, “junk” meal or dive into the gym for 30 minutes that this will be okay, not realizing that they are just putting even more strain on their adrenal glands.

Pregnolone is one of the most important elements for building hormones in the body. When we are rundown and overstressed, the body uses pregnolone to make cortisol to handle stress. However, it appears that excess cortisol can be “stolen” when the body is overstressed, from testosterone or DHEA, which adds additional problems on top of an already aggravated situation.

What can you do? Essentially, slow down, make sure that you go to sleep and wake up in harmony with the cycles of the sun, eat only a very highly nutritious diet and exercise regularly. Easier said than done?
